Days of September

I can feel it coming upon us.  The month of September brings with it the morning dew glistening upon the leaves of trees just starting their descent into winter hibernation.  Well…maybe not yet, since we are still hinging on the 90 degree mark for most of the past few weeks.  But…it’s on its way!

I don’t know about you, but fall is one of my favorite times of year.  I love the lingering summertime temperatures hanging on to the remnants of the “daylight savings” days.  For those of us who don’t get home until after six o’clock at night, there is still enough time, and light, to take a quick jaunt to capture the colors of a sunset, or the golden wash upon the hillsides.  And all those golden hues get my mind running for the hills…ones covered with the golds, reds and oranges of a full blast of fall colors.  We may not get too many of those at our elevation, at least not yet; but head on up into higher elevations and you will be blessed with the brilliance of God’s paint brush as it washes away the summer heat and the trees begin to pack it in for the cold winter ahead.

It’s been a few years since I did a fall color run…I’m thinking it is time to do another one.  Perhaps some of you have the same idea?  If so, share your ideas with the rest of the club.  Perhaps we could even make a field trip out of it.

May your days of September be full of the last days of summer as you take the opportunity to photograph the beauty in the Bay Area; or venture higher to capture some of that gold in the hills.
